#38 new enhancement

New Keka Icon

I noticed in the Keka user discussion on Mac Update that not everyone liked the current icon for Keka. I like it, but in case you ever want a new one, I made one in the old version of Omnigraffle that came bundled with my iMac.

New Keka Icon

I'm aware of that. It's normal, not all people like bugs... But I really like the metaphor of the woodlouse and the compression. I think the point is to make a more friendly woodlouse, less real that the current.

I've tried paying a designer but the work never ended. So... Your prototype is way far from the metaphor! How was the omnigraffle icon? Similar to your version?

I'm working right now with Pablo that made this:

We're (mostly he will) working to use that icons in the near future. And I think the Keka bundled in this icon can be also the new icon... Less buggy.

No, the Omnigraffle icon is much different, it's a clipboard with a sheet with a line diagram on it. I like star icons, and used the colors of the different compression formats from the preview photo for the rays. Don't worry, as I said, I like the current icon, I just wanted to contribute something in case you ever wanted a new one.

I like stars too. My first app ever was kind of a star:

Didn't noticed the colors, now you say it is pretty clear :)

I didn't realize it's a woodlouse until I read this. I hadn't looked closely enough and thought it was some kind of marine shell.

Anyway, I don't associate woodlice with shrinking. Seems to me they just roll up.

I recognized the colors in UpdateNut?'s icon and understood the references immediately. It's very abstract, though, and doesn't suggest shrinking to me either.
