Description

I was looking at the changelog, and the last time p7zip and Unrar were updated was in version 0.1.4. The current version of p7zip is 9.20.1: http://sourceforge.net/projects/p7zip/ The current version of Unrar is 4.1.4 for the source code: http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm When will Keka be updated with these new versions of p7zip and Unrar?

One typo to correct: in the Preferences menu, under the general tab, "dafault format" should be "default format". I like your video about Rucksack vs Keka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDLTn0htBUI) even though you didn't show what settings you were using with Rucksack. I for one am interested in seeing a Round 2 between Keka and Archiver, as Rucksack is now known. (link to it: http://archiverapp.com/) Finally, I have a suggestion to make: due to the fact that people are still using RAR in large numbers (I could be wrong about this), would it be practical to add the RAR binary to Keka for compressing files into RAR?

  1. About p7zip and unrar in the upcoming version I'm using both last versions. The update has to come this month (this time for sure)
  1. Thanks for the typo! Hard to see that one.
  1. When the next version is released, I'll take a look at Archiver and see when I have time to make a video. I just made the Rucksack cause I've been impressed how slow 7z compression was.
  1. I have in mind the rar compression, but obviously I can't release Keka with the rar binary since it has to be licensed. But at least I've started making some tests when a valid rar binary is found in the system paths. So it will be up to the user to buy the binary, Keka will be compatible to use it in the future (not that distant future).

So:

  1. Coming on next release
  2. Coming on next release
  3. Maybe with the next release
  4. Coming sometime, work in progress

Thanks for all your tips :)

The upcoming release has p7zip 9.20.1 (made a typo in the credits and it will say 9.20 but it's 9.20.1) and unrar 4.10.
Also the typo is fixed.

Thanks!!
