#24 accepted enhancement

Feature suggestion - Browse archive (without extracting)

I recently switched from Windows to OS X and love your archive utility. It is lightweight and very easy to use.
However, one thing I really miss from 7zip is the ability to browse archives without extracting the files, and modify (extract 1 file/add 1 file, etc.) without extracting everything.
Would really appreciate if this could be added in.

Here was asked again. But let's continue on Trac now.

There're no improvements about this right now. First Is needed to work without binaries, with source code of p7zip and unrar, then it will be easiest.

I think it's fine to add this feature but let me urge caution in designing its user interface. One need only look at, say, sArchiver or BetterZip? to see how a browse function could bloat Keka's nice, compact interface into a screen hog. Perhaps the browse window could open only when the function is invoked.
